What is damp proofing?
Rising Damp is moisture that contains salts from the saturated soil below the brickwork which, if there is no Damp-Proof Course (DPC) barrier to prevent the moisture from entering the brickwork from below, will travel upwards through the pores of the brickwork by means of capillary action (moisture that rises through a narrow network of voids in masonry even against the force of gravity).
